SideJump ("we", "our", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use the SideJump browser extension for ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

We do not collect any personal data.

We do not transmit your chat history to any external servers.

All data is stored locally on your device.

1. Data Collection and Usage
SideJump operates as a strictly local-only extension.

a. Chat Content & Navigation Anchors The Extension scans the DOM (Document Object Model) of the ChatGPT or Gemini webpage locally within your browser to identify where your prompts are located.

Hashing: To create unique IDs for navigation anchors, the Extension generates a mathematical "hash" of your prompt text.

No Raw Text Storage: We do not store the full text of your conversations. Only the position (coordinates), the generated hash, and any custom labels you create (e.g., "Debug", "Code") are saved.

Purpose: This data is used solely to render the visual navigation rail and allow you to jump between prompts.

b. User Settings We store your preferences (such as custom colors, label names, and on/off status) to remember your configuration between sessions.

2. Data Storage
All data generated by SideJump is stored in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local).

Local Only: This data never leaves your browser. It is not synced to our servers, nor is it sent to any third-party analytics services.

Data Persistence: This data remains on your device until you uninstall the extension or clear your browser's extension data.

3. Third-Party Access
SideJump does not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties.

The Extension interacts with chatgpt.com, openai.com, and gemini.google.com solely to provide the navigation interface on top of those websites. It does not send data back to OpenAI or Google beyond standard browser interactions required to scroll the page.

4. Analytics and Tracking
We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any other tracking software within the extension. We do not track your browsing history or search queries.

5. Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions for functionality only:

Storage: To save your custom labels and anchor positions locally.

Host Permissions (ChatGPT/Gemini): To inject the navigation script into the specific AI chat pages you visit.

6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the extension's update notes or Chrome Web Store listing.
